The physicians at Michigan Ear, Nose and Throat Associates specialize in treating all kinds of diseases of the head and neck, including sinus infections, sleep apnea syndrome, and voice disorders, such as hoarseness and weakened or loss of voice. We treat all forms of head and neck cancer, including cancer of the skin and scalp.
If you have any of the following, we may be able to help you.
Ear Disease
Nothing is more important than a person’s senses. When people lose their hearing, whether from infection or aging, they feel alienated and have often have difficulty socializing. When they regain most or all of their hearing, they feel re-energized as they resume their normal social activities.
Sinus and Nasal Disease
Recurrent or chronic sinus infections can cause headaches, fatigue, and loss of productivity. At Michigan Ear, Nose and Throat Associates, we aim to reduce and hopefully eliminate the number of sinus infections our patients will experience. Treated with a combination of medication and homeopathic remedies, they live much more productive lives.
Head and Neck Cancer
Head and neck cancer plagues millions of Americans. Cancer of the throat and oral cavity is most commonly caused by a combination of genetics, and one's smoking and drinking habits. It can start very small and grow at a rapid rate. At Michigan Ear, Nose and Throat Associates, we do everything we can to make an early diagnosis and proceed with the appropriate care.
Snoring and Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a commonly under-diagnosed sleep syndrome characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. A person can awaken hundreds of times each night and not even know it. This can lead to both short- and long-term complications. A person may have trouble working or driving due to sleepiness or have an inability to concentrate, which can lead to poor performance at work or school. Long-term sleep apnea could lead to heart or lung problems and in the most extreme circumstances, prove fatal. We help determine whether the patient requires a medical or surgical approach and help implement it for him or her.
Voice Changes
Hoarseness of voice can be caused by a small amount of swelling or by a small nodule or polyp on the person's vocal cords. More frightening is that hoarseness can be one of the earliest symptoms of throat cancer. A qualified physician should evaluate any change in voice longer than one month in duration. We use a very gentle fiberoptic scope that gives us a close, painless look at the patient's voice box. We can even attach a camera that allows the patient a real time look at how his or her vocal cords move.
